Fashion through the ages

One of the most interesting aspects to the world of fashion is its history, and how every year, you can guarantee something from the path of history is going to re-appear again; for example one of the most iconic eras, the 1960's. 1960s fashion was unlike any other decade, with some of the most revolutionary clothing which was as fast-moving as the era’s sweeping social, political and cultural changes. It is thanks to 60's that women now wear short skirts, knee high boots, from the empire waist line and ‘no waists’ And as unbelievable as it sounds, without the boundary-pushing fashion inventions of the ’60s, today’s woman would be unable to purchase a pair of formal pants. Just like the changes of the ’60s themselves, the clothing trends were similarly groundbreaking and for the most part, completely new and novel ideas to the landscape of fashion.

Film Noir
A period of history and more of a cinematic term I have become increasingly interested in, is film noir. There was one particular photograph I became particularly interested upon called, ‘Muse..Film Noir,’ by Shane Martin (right). I love the composition of the photograph, and how the costume alone itself tells a story. She looks secretive and mysterious, hiding behind her feather bower. I decided to try and re-create the photograph myself, to try and catch that enigmatic, Femme fatal.
